Teaching subjects: English, ESL, Humanities

Hello! I’m Deborah Pennock. After many years away, I have just moved back to Guelph.  I have done a lot since leaving, including studying and being a teacher to students of all ages in many different settings.  My last position was as a middle and high school teacher at an IB school in Mexico.  Before that I taught in a university and with the Vancouver School Board.  After growing up in Guelph, I did a BA in English at McGill and a TEFLA Certificate in London, England.  Then I worked as an ESL teacher in Turkey and Spain. I returned to Canada and worked as an ESL teacher in Vancouver, studied a BEd. (Secondary English and ESL) at the University of British Columbia and an MEd. (Curriculum and Instruction: ESL) at Simon Fraser University.  Then I went to live and work in Mexico.   I specialize in teaching English and English as a Second Language, and I have taught and tutored many subjects including Communication, Social Studies and History.  For me, the best part of being a teacher is creating positive learning experiences for my students, so they can develop skills and reach their learning goals.
